Jesus said that the Holy Ghost will teach us all things.
John 14:26 But the Comforter, which is the Holy Ghost, whom the Father will send in my name, he shall teach you all things, and bring all things to your remembrance, whatsoever I have said unto you.
One common theme in both the Old and New Testament is that people in the future will sing a new song. A song is a message. Often a song will tell a story, but even when it does there is often a message in the story. Being a new song means that it is a new message. A revelation from God. A revelation that has not yet been revealed. It seems as though the Holy Ghost will continue to teach us, perhaps until the time of the end.
Psalms 98:1-3 O sing unto the LORD a new song; for he hath done marvellous things: his right hand, and his holy arm, hath gotten him the victory. The LORD hath made known his salvation: his righteousness hath he openly shewed in the sight of the heathen. He hath remembered his mercy and his truth toward the house of Israel: all the ends of the earth have seen the salvation of our God.
End of Time
This could not be talking about the gospel that was revealed at the time of Christ. It would be many centuries before the gospel was proclaimed to all the ends of the earth. Not long after Christ, Israel was destroyed. God did not remember His mercy toward Israel at that time. In modern times God has remembered His mercy toward Israel. So now, in modern times, something new will be revealed.
This new message makes His salvation known. It reveals how the right hand of God (Christ) has gotten the victory, and since it is a new message then every message or theory before it must have been wrong. This is a new atonement theory that is revealed by the Lord, only this one is not merely a theory.
The salvation that is revealed in the end times is simple. It is something that people should have been able to see, but God prevented humanity from seeing it. Like a veil or a mountain, God removes something that is blocking the view of all people.
Isaiah 25:7 And he will destroy in this mountain the face of the covering cast over all people, and the vail that is spread over all nations.
Isaiah 40:4-5 Every valley shall be exalted, and every mountain and hill shall be made low: and the crooked shall be made straight, and the rough places plain: And the glory of the Lord shall be revealed, and all flesh shall see it together: for the mouth of the Lord hath spoken it.
It Starts Small
In the book of Revelation, it appears as though the new song is sung by a limited number of people.
Revelation 14:3 And they sung as it were a new song before the throne, and before the four beasts, and the elders: and no man could learn that song but the hundred and forty and four thousand, which were redeemed from the earth.
Those who sing the new song are protected by God, and their numbers will grow since eventually the whole world seems to be singing the new song.
Isaiah 42:10-14 Sing unto the LORD a new song, and his praise from the end of the earth, ye that go down to the sea, and all that is therein; the isles, and the inhabitants thereof. Let the wilderness and the cities thereof lift up their voice, the villages that Kedar doth inhabit: let the inhabitants of the rock sing, let them shout from the top of the mountains. Let them give glory unto the LORD, and declare his praise in the islands. The LORD shall go forth as a mighty man, he shall stir up jealousy like a man of war: he shall cry, yea, roar; he shall prevail against his enemies. I have long time holden my peace; I have been still, and refrained myself: now will I cry like a travailing woman; I will destroy and devour at once.
Good News
People throughout the world will rejoice in this new message, and yet part of the message is about the wrath of God destroying and devouring. This seems like a contradiction unless the wrath of God is not directed at humanity. The Lord “shall prevail against His enemies”, so the wrath of God is directed at Satan, and all the evil spirits. God destroys and devours evil, and God does this while revealing how He has redeemed His children. This explains why there is rejoicing in the earth.
Armageddon is a time of the destruction of evil. The devil or evil itself must be what God destroys, and how this is achieved is part of the new song. As Satan learns he has been outsmarted by God, the devil continues in his efforts to destroy but in a less restrained way. “Armageddon” or “tribulation” is mostly the result of a more openly hostile Satan.
As Satan is causing tribulation, the salvation of God is being revealed. Eventually the whole world knows the new song, believes in the new song, so that when Jesus returns all the world, protected by God, will be waiting for Jesus. Cameras will be positioned throughout Jerusalem. The whole world will be watching, and the whole world will say, “blessed is He comes in the name of the Lord.”
Revelation 5:9-10 And they sung a new song, saying, Thou art worthy to take the book, and to open the seals thereof: for thou wast slain, and hast redeemed us to God by thy blood out of every kindred, and tongue, and people, and nation; And hast made us unto our God kings and priests: and we shall reign on the earth.
The Grace of Christ
One central theme of the new song is Christ and how He provides redemption to His children. With this new message we learn that the redemption provided by Christ is not only for the Christian nations. It is for all the children of God from all nations, peoples, and tongues.
Another central theme of this new message is praise to the glory of God. The new song reveals how God has done marvelous things, and how the will of God is achieved in absolute completeness. God gives us free will; He judges all by what they say and do. He destroys all evil, and yet God redeems all His children. God in His mercy redeems every tiny piece of love, and God in His justice destroys every tiny piece of evil. He wins in all things, and God loses none of His children. God sets all things right, and His will is achieved in all things.
God is in complete control. There is no greater comfort than to know that God is in complete control, and in all things, His will be done.
